Flushing Water Mains
The Barre City Water Department will begin routine flushing of water mains on Sunday, October 20, 2024, at midnight and will continue through Friday, November 8, 2024 on a 5:00am to 5:00pm schedule.
During this flushing procedure, water will continue to be safe for all uses and boiling is not necessary. Customers, particularly in higher elevations, may be affected and water will intermittently be discolored. In the case of discolored water, open a cold-water faucet for no more than ten minutes to flush your service line. Residents may also witness water flowing onto streets, resulting from the flushing process.
Customers are encouraged to draw water in advance for cooking and consumption for optimal water clarity.
