Parking Information

Welcome to the Barre City Parking Information page.

There are several types of parking within the city. There are parking meters on streets as well as in designated city parking lots. There are also lots dedicated to the employees of City Place and Blanchard Block from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. excluding weekends and holidays.  These vehicles will display the appropriate parking permit in their vehicle while parked in their respective lot. They must park in their assigned lot to avoid a parking violation.

Parking meters are in use Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.  Parking in Barre is free after 5 pm, on weekends, and on public holidays.

Barre has 4 EV Charging stations.  These parking spaces are designated for electric cars that are charging.

Parking fees for EV Charging stations are $2/hr payable through ParkMobile only, regardless of vehicle plugged in/charging, applicable at all times including evenings and weekends. $25 fine for noncompliance.

Day time and Overnight parking permits may be purchased at the City Clerk's Office.  See the Parking Permit Policy for details.

Parking Enforcement falls under Barre City Ordinance Chapter 17 Traffic, specifically Division 3; Parking, Standing, Stopping.  The fines, for parking violations, are listed in the City Fee Schedule which can be viewed in the Document Library.

Meters are painted various colors which determine the maximum amount of time a vehicle can park in that metered space.
Parking meter colors are as follows and only accept US coins. Canadian or other foreign coins do not register time:

The meter rates in The City of Barre are:

$0.25    15 minutes

Citizens with disabled plates or placards can park in either the designated disabled parking spaces or at any metered space in the City of Barre. Please note that the maximum times also pertain to these vehicles.

Operators with city issued day time parking permits can only park at a Green Meter without paying that meter. If the vehicle is parked at any other meter (Red, Black, Yellow) a parking ticket will be issued by members of the Parking Enforcement Office or a Barre City Police Officer.
