In November 2023 BCPD procured body worn cameras, partially through grant funding. The body worn camera program took effect in April 2024 after setup and training was complete. The program operates under the guidelines established in the statewide mandatory body worn camera policy
Through its charge, the Barre City Police Advisory Committee reviews all of the policies of the Barre City Police Department, providing community perspective and feedback to the Chief. BCPD's full policy manual can be found HERE.
In December 2023 BCPD pledged commitment to the One Mind Campaign through the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) to improve our response to those affected by mental health issues.
